Bhikshus' Biographies

Venerable Tenpa Jampal, S/O Namgey was born January 17th, 1995, in Lumia, Tawanag, Arunachal Pradesh, India.  He has resided at Tashi Kyil Monastery for 20 years working in a religious capacity as a monk of our monastery.  He began to read and write the Tibetan alphabet and ordained a monk for eight years.  He studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, English, Hindi, rituals and prayers in the monastery.  He then worked as a manager and as an Administrator.

Venerable Yeshi Nyendak was born December 17th, 1975, in Mussoorie, a small hill station in Uttarakhand, as a Tibetan refugee.  Yeshi went to nursery school in Mussoorie for two years and studied primary lessons.  Afterwards, he went to Rajpur School to study.  In 1987 he joined Tashi Kyil Monastery and began to read and write the Tibetan alphabet. At the age of twelve, he was ordained a monk at Tashi Kyil Monastery. For eight years he studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, rituals and prayers in the monastery.  Since that time, he has continued to work actively in the monastery, performing Buddhist rituals and being involved in other programs.

Sangyal Gyaltso was born in 1974 in Tsomam Tibet.  He lived with his parents until the age of 14.  Before coming to India as a Tibetan refugee, he stayed in a monastery in Tibet for two years, became a monk, and studied Tibetan Buddhism, reading and writing there. In India he stayed at Drepung Gomang Monastery. He studied Tibetan Buddhism for 12 years including the Six Perfections of Wisdom. Sangyal Gyaltso lives at Tashi Kyil Monastery working at the Dharma Institute. Sangyal Gyaltso was a member of the Tashi Kyil tour group in 2011 and 2022. With his experience he will be an invaluable member of this tour.

Dorjee Rinchin S/O Lobsang Thachin was born June 3rd, 1994, in Thongleng Village, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India.  He has resided at the Tashi Kyil Monastery for 20 years, working in a religious capacity as a monk of the monastery. He began to read and write the Tibetan alphabet and ordained a monk for eight years.  He studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, English, Hindi, rituals and prayers in the monastery.  He has worked as the monastery’s shopkeeper and is now manager of the Tashi Kyil Guest House.

Bhanu Pratap Singh Bouddh was born on February 18th 1986 in Uttarkashi, Uttarkhand State, India. At the age of eleven in 1997, he entered Tashi Kyil Monastery in Clement Town, India. He began to study Tibetan alphabet, reading and writing and, he also studied Buddhist prayers and rituals.  At the age of 14, he began to study Buddhist philosophy (religion). Bhanu Pratap Singh Bouddh has studied Buddhism for the past 18 years and is currently studying the Prajanparamita (Perfection of Wisdom).  In 2011, he also joined for two years, the Hindi Sanskrit workshop at the Central /university of Tibetan Studies in Sarnath, Varanasi. Presently, he has been teaching English and Hindi Grammar to the young monks in the monastery.  He was a member of the 2015-16 and the 2018-19  and the 2023 Tashi Kyil Tour Group.
